# Setup guide — Gift cards in Front Systems
## This article explains how to set up Loyco digital gift cards as products in Front Systems so that your team can sell and redeem them directly from the POS.
**Before you start**
Make sure the Loyco integration is active in Front Systems before setting up gift cards. Contact [support@loyco.no](mailto:support@loyco.no) if you are unsure whether the integration is active.

**Overview**
The setup involves creating 8–10 gift card products in Front Systems with the same name and settings but different values. This makes it easy for your sales team to quickly select the right amount at checkout without having to manually adjust the price every time.
Start by creating one gift card product and then duplicate it for each additional amount.

**Step 1 — Go to Catalog and create a new product**
Log in to Front Systems and navigate to Catalog. Click New Product to start creating the gift card product.

**Step 2 — Define the product name**
Enter the product name using the following format:
> Digitalt Gavekort \[Store Name\]
Replace \[Store Name\] with your store's name. Using a consistent naming format makes the gift card easy to find at the point of sale.

**Step 3 — Upload the gift card image**
Upload a gift card image that reflects your brand identity. A branded gift card image makes the product look professional and recognisable to your team at checkout.
You can use the Loyco gift card template in Canva as a starting point and customise it with your own branding:

**Step 4 — Create the Brand and Product Group**
Create a new Brand called Gavekort and assign it to the product. Then create a new Product Group also called Gavekort and assign it to the product. This keeps your gift card products organised and easy to filter in your product catalogue.

**Step 5 — Select the size system**
Select OneSize as the Size System for the gift card product. Gift cards do not have size variants, so OneSize is the correct setting.

**Step 6 — Set the sales price and VAT**
Set the sales price to a high default amount, for example 5000 kr. This acts as the maximum gift card value and can be adjusted down at the point of sale using the discount feature when a customer requests a specific amount.
Set the VAT to 0 kr. Gift cards are not subject to VAT.

**Step 7 — Set the inventory**
Set a sufficient inventory level for the gift card product, for example 1000 units. This ensures the gift card product does not run out of stock and become unavailable at the point of sale.

**Step 8 — Save the product**
Save the gift card product. The first gift card product is now ready.

**Step 9 — Duplicate the product for popular amounts**
To make it faster to sell gift cards at the correct amount, duplicate the product and adjust the sales price for each popular amount. The most common gift card amounts are:
100 kr, 250 kr, 500 kr, 750 kr, 1000 kr, 1500 kr, 2000 kr, 2500 kr, 3000 kr, 5000 kr
Create one product for each amount so your team can select the right gift card directly at checkout without needing to manually adjust the price every time.

**Step 10 — Complete a test purchase**
Before going live, complete a test purchase in Front Systems to verify that the gift card is delivered correctly via SMS. Use a small amount for the test, for example 1 kr.
After completing the test purchase, notify Loyco at [support@loyco.no](mailto:support@loyco.no) to confirm that the test was successful before going live.
**Things to note**
- Always set VAT to 0 kr on gift card products — gift cards are not subject to VAT
- Set a high default sales price and use the discount feature to adjust to the customer's preferred amount at checkout — do not create a separate product for every possible amount
- Make sure inventory is set high enough to avoid the product becoming unavailable — 1000 units is a safe starting point
- The gift card must be connected to a customer with a registered phone number at the point of sale to ensure delivery via SMS.
